Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates a large portion of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration, along with commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.
After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and legal research.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases that involved child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts contributed greatly to helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice extended beyond the realm of law since she was actively a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tristate area.
In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law – custody, divorce, child maintenance and guardianships – as well as estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the intention of providing a personalized approach for every client's needs.
