Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice focuses on various aspects of family-related matters. She focuses a majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions as well as child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as probate, wills, trusts and estate administration as well as commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019 she assists parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters which involved child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice went beyond her legal profession when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce child support, custody and guardianships as well in estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to every client's needs.
