THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family issues. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private party adoptions as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who would like to avoid the litigation and court process.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts played a significant role in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at the care of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce custody, child support and guardianships, as well in estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the goal of providing an individual approach to every client's needs.
