THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019 and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediations for people who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.

Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters that involved child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond her legal practice and she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.

In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law – custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
