Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues, step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who would prefer to avoid the litigation and court process.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.
Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice went beyond her legal profession when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law, including divorce, custody guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a an intention to provide an individual approach to each client's needs.
