Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family issues. She focuses a majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills and probate, and estate administration, in addition to commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019, assisting parties in helping them settle their disputes without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid litigation and court processes.
After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014, she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond her legal practice since she was actively an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law including divorce, custody, child support and guardianships - aswell as estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
